Chopper (IN FOSTER)'s Story
Meet Chopper, an 2-year-old Alaskan Husky/Labrador mix who's proof that not every husky dreams of running the Iditarod. His favorite things are sniffing every blade of grass, cheek scratches, and being with his people. He's been patiently waiting far too long for his forever family.

Since settling into foster care for the past two months, we've discovered what his future family will love most about him.

Chopper is playful, affectionate, and happiest when he's with his people. He loves neighborhood strolls and quiet sniffari walks, where every smell is worth investigating. At home, you'll often find him stretched out in the grass, rolling on his back, or melting into cheek scratches with the happiest little grin. He forms deep bonds with the people he trusts and now spends his days enjoying free roam of the house, sleeping peacefully through the night, and sharing life with his foster mom, foster dad, and foster dog sister.

His foster mom shares, "Living with Chopper has been such a joy. Watching him greet new people and dogs politely, settle into our home, and discover the simple joys of everyday life has been amazing. Nothing makes him happier than a 15–30 minute sniffari, lounging in the backyard grass, or digging in his special sand pit. The joy in his eyes during those moments is something really special to see."

Chopper experiences ongoing physical discomfort, although medical investigations have not identified an underlying cause. To help him stay comfortable, he'll continue on a medication plan. He's making wonderful progress through cooperative care training, learning to take his medications more consistently and building positive experiences with handling. Veterinary visits are still stressful for him, so his future family should be committed to continuing his muzzle and cooperative care training to help him feel safe and confident. Chopper's adopter will receive ongoing support from a certified dog trainer at no cost, helping both Chopper and his new family continue building confidence together.

Chopper thrives with people who pay attention to his communication and provide thoughtful guidance. He enjoys physical play with his foster dog sister and will need a meet and greet with any resident dogs to ensure they're a good fit. He is looking for a cat-free, child-free home with someone who will continue building the trusting partnership he's worked so hard to create.

If you're looking for a loyal companion who makes ordinary days feel a little more special, Chopper might just be the dog you've been waiting for.

All applications require manager approval.
