Chiquita's Story

Chiquita is a 13-year-old Chihuahua who came to us from a hoarding situation involving 18 dogs in Palmdale, California. After spending much of her life in an overcrowded environment, she is now discovering a world that is much biggerand much kinderthan she ever knew.
Like many dogs from hoarding situations, Chiquita can be nervous when faced with new experiences. But what has stood out most about her is her bravery. Rather than staying hidden away, Chiquita has shown a willingness to step forward and introduce herself to the people who have been helping her. She seems to understand that the humans around her are trying to earn her trust, and she has been open to giving them a chance.
Chiquita is also wonderfully curious. While she may approach new things with caution, she wants to see and experience them for herself. Whether its exploring a new space, investigating unfamiliar sounds, or checking in on what everyone else is doing, her curiosity often helps her overcome her uncertainty.
Because of her past, there are still many things Chiquita is learning about life in a loving home. She will benefit from a patient adopter who can continue building her confidence and helping her navigate the world at a pace that feels comfortable for her. The good news is that Chiquita seems eager to keep making progress.
After everything shes been through, Chiquita deserves a family that will celebrate her courage, nurture her curiosity, and give her the love shes always deserved. In return, youll gain a sweet companion who is proving every day that its never too late for a fresh start. Chiquita is ready to begin her next chaptercould it be with you?
