Chip's Story

Chip (and his brother Cash) came to JoJo’s when they found themselves homeless through no fault of their own. Emergency circumstances caused their owner to need to move away and she was unable to take her dogs with her.

Chip is the bigger brother at a whopping 12 lbs. He is super playful and is sometimes a bit too pushy with his smaller brother so we are not trying to get them adopted together.

Because of a lot of crate and indoor time, Chip was trained to use a pee pad, so full housebreaking is a work in progress. He will still need your help to understand that he should always potty outside, but that is understandable since he was not asked to do that until recently. We do not use pee pads, but if you prefer to use then he may already be considered housebroken.

For the past few months due to his owner’s unfortunate circumstances, Chip has had to spend a lot of time being in a crate and not getting to romp and play much. At only 2 ½ years old he still wants lots of regular fun “dog time” running and playing – he’s been doing so much of that since he came to us a few days ago that we’ve had a hard time capturing pictures of him.

He can be an only dog, but if you have another dog that is OK too as long as your other dog is bigger than him or you are able to correct his desire to dominate a dog smaller than him. Don't hold it against him -- we think he was just used to kind of bullying his little brother so his new family will need to be experienced enough to correct that behavior if you have another small dog. Or possibly he won't even act that way with anyone other than his little brother -- we don't know.

Although we do not have papers, we were told Cash and Chip were adopted from a Yorkshire Terrier breeder, so to the best of our knowledge he is a pure-bred Yorkie.

If you are interested in meeting Cash, please email us at jojosdogrescue @gmail.com and we will send you an application, or download one from our website www.jojosdoghouse.com. Adoption fee is $400 and includes spay/neuter, up-to-date vaccinations, microchip, and parasite treatment and prevention.

Please visit our Facebook page JoJo's DogHouse (non-profit) to learn more about us and see many of the dogs we have rescued. We hope you'll join JoJo's family of adopters!
