SPECIAL NEEDS:
Meeko does have a heart murmur and we have had multiple echocardiagrams done on him for follow up. Meeko has two somewhat leaky valves that are causing the murmur. All of his other heart measurements were normal and no meds are currently needed & he currently has no restrictions. Meeko should stay on the lean side and avoid overexertion but is fully expected to live a long, healthy life, but he does require a family who is willing to continue with echocardiagrams as recommended by his doctors and take care of any medical needs that may arise down the road. An echocardiagram will run around $650 per occurrence.

Requires 6 foot fence.

Meeko is a great sidekick!  He is just over a year old and a great boy weighing over 60 pounds. He is sweet, attentive, alert, smart and so much fun. He is always smiling (it’s the absolute cutest, that grin is priceless) and up for anything, whether it’s being your sous chef, workout partner, coworker, passenger in the car, or Netflix buddy.

He is a great mix of being active and knowing how to chill. He isn’t one to lay on you but will lay next to you or close by - he’s very affectionate in his own way. His kisses mean the world as you know he means it. He will follow you around the house to see if he can help or be a part of the action.

He had been through obedience class so knows basic commands - our favorite is “high five.” It would be great for his new family to take him through the next level to bond and earn his respect.

Meeko requires a 6-foot fenced yard for running and playing, he loves fetch. He loves to chase after the ducks and geese and has tried to jump at the fence to continue his game of chase.

He is crate trained when we’re not at home and runs in there for a treat, makes it a breeze. He prefers to sleep in our bedroom at night, sometimes on the floor or on the bed.

He loves playing with other dogs, doesn’t always know when to take a break or tone it down - but is happy and respectful to all. He does respond to “uh uh” when it’s time to tone it down.  He does have a tendency to jump on new people when first meeting, it’s something we’re working on. Meeko is happy to chill and chew on one of his favorite toys if he doesn't have someone to play with.

He does best with a raised water dish, otherwise he does put his paws in to play. Meeko loves the dog park and walks. He is mainly a talker in his crate at times, but pretty quiet otherwise. He is such a handsome, genuinely good boy!

Adoption fee is $425 + tax (no checks)

Please inquire whether Meeko will be attending an upcoming adoption event at the Woodbury PetSmart on Saturdays.

Our fosters do the best they can to provide all information about the animal's background and temperament while in foster care in their home. An adopter's routine and home environment are likely going to be different than that in their foster home.

Sometimes there is more that comes out about a dog's personality once they have been able to settle in a home and truly become comfortable. There are great articles out there written about the different stages a pet goes through after adoption, discussing transitions that happen at 3 days, 3 weeks, and 3 months. We highly recommend reading about this - it will help you understand the transition your new pet goes through.
