Chimi's Story
Meet your new pal, Chimi! *Please read his full bio before inquiring.*

Chimi is estimated to be 8-10 years old and was transferred from a kill shelter in Nevada. He's been enjoying Utah life ever since!

Don't let his age fool you—Chimi has lots of energy and a HUGE personality packed into his little body. He loves walks, toys, cuddles, scratches and playing with socks. He won't destroy them; he just likes to carry them around and toss them in the air. He also loves chasing a ball, although bringing it back is apparently not part of the game.

Chimi is very food motivated and eats from a slow feeder. He's also a professional beggar, and while we're working on it, he's a senior who's pretty set in his ways.

He currently lives with small and large dogs and does great with both. He respects corrections and listens when another dog asks for space. We aren't sure about cats. Because he's a jumper and can take treats enthusiastically, we recommend respectful kids 10+ who understand how to interact with a senior dog.

Chimi is potty trained, uses a dog door, is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. He recently had a dental with 7 teeth extracted. He is a skinny guy, and although we've worked on helping him gain weight, he seems happy maintaining where he's at!

*Important medical info: Chimi has a Grade 5 heart murmur, an enlarged heart and Stage B2 Mitral Valve Disease (MVD). He is not currently in heart failure, but his condition will require lifelong monitoring, including veterinary checkups and xrays/or echo's around every 6 months or if symptoms change. He also takes daily heart meds, which currently costs around $50/month through Chewy.

Please make sure you're prepared to meet both his medical needs AND his physical needs before applying—this little senior still has plenty of energy and will need an active family!

If Chimi sounds like your new pal, we'd love for you to apply! He is being fostered in Weber County, Utah.Meet-and-greets are scheduled with approved applicants only.

Questions? Text 385-244-0431 or email adopt@goldenbarkfoundation.org
