Chilindrina (Foster-to-Adopt)'s Story

Chilindrina is available for Foster to Adopt!

We'd love to welcome Chilindrina into the Fetch + Releash family on May 9th. In order to secure a spot on the flight, she needs a committed foster-to-adopt family. As a foster-to-adopt family, you’ll be expected to take her home that same day. You will then have two weeks to get to know your new furry house guest before committing to adoption. At the end of two weeks, if you choose not to move forward with adoption, we simply ask that you continue to provide a safe and loving home until their new forever family can be found.

Each bio was created by our rescue partners based on their interactions with the dogs. Fetch + Releash has a full disclosure policy however we cannot guarantee a dog against parasites or diseases, nor can we guarantee a dog’s nature/behaviour. Many of these dogs are coming directly from the shelter and so you should expect there to be a transitional period. Be prepared to deal with common issues like potty training, leash walking, and socialization. Cat and kid safety assessments are often based on their personality and not necessarily on actual interactions.

Where possible, the majority of vetting will be completed prior to coming to Canada, however, foster-to-adopt families may be required to travel to our partner vet Mississauga, ON for further vet care.

During your foster-to-adopt trial, you’ll receive the support of a Fetch + Releash mentor to help you through the transition and answer any questions or concerns you may have.

Foster-to-adopt families will be required to pay a $200 deposit on the adoption fee and sign our foster-to-adopt waiver in advance. If you choose not to adopt, your $200 will be refunded to you within 30 days of your dog being adopted into a new family provided you see your pup through to adoption. If you choose not to see your dog through to adoption, you will forfeit your deposit.

Foster-to-adopt families will be expected to provide their own supplies. Visit https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info for more info on mandatory supplies.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Chilindrina / Female / 6 years old / 42 lbs / Lab-Shepherd Mix / From Mexico
Chilindrina is the kind of dog people hope to find. Sweet, gentle, calm, and endlessly loving, she is happiest simply being near her people. Found as a pregnant street dog, she has handled everything life has thrown at her with quiet patience and grace. But don't be fooled, she also has a silly side and will bring lots of laughter to your life.
Described by her caregivers as soft, affectionate, and incredibly easygoing, Chilindrina gets along beautifully with other dogs and greets people with warmth and kindness. She has a calm, steady presence and would make a wonderful companion for someone looking for a peaceful, loving dog. In September 2025, Chilindrina was treated for a form of cancer called TVT. She has made a full recovery and does not require any additional care.
Chilindrina walks nicely on a leash and has a low energy level. She enjoys relaxed strolls and quiet time at home. She is not crate trained, and her house training is still a work in progress, but she settles easily and takes everything in stride.
Originally brought in to be spayed and released, Chilindrina tested positive for heartworm and could not be returned to the street. Through heartworm treatment, quarantine, and recovery, she remained gentle and resilient, simply seeming grateful to be safe and cared for. Chilindrina was treated for heartworm in July 2025, and her most recent SNAP test in March 2026 was negative. She is expected to go on to live a full and healthy life. It is recommended that she be on year-round heartworm prevention medicine.
Chilindrina would do best in a calm, loving home where she can continue to enjoy a quiet life and close companionship. She is the kind of dog who asks for very little and gives so much in return.
If you’re interested in fostering with the intention of adopting, please apply at
https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info#adoption-form
Chilindrina’s adoption fee is $850.
