Hi! I'm Chikis (2), and I'm about 2 years and 3 months old. I'm a medium-to-large-sized boy weighing 37 lbs, with a beautiful short brown coat.<br/><br/>My story began one night when some people were getting ready for bed and heard a puppy crying very close to their home. When they went outside to see what was happening, they discovered that I had somehow already made my way into their yard. Without thinking twice, they decided to take me in.<br/><br/>I was covered in ticks and needed immediate veterinary care. I spent several days hospitalized, thanks to a rescuer who covered the cost of my treatment. During my examination, I tested positive for ehrlichiosis, but thankfully, I made a full recovery before starting my deworming and vaccination schedule and, eventually, getting neutered.<br/><br/>Almost two years have passed since then, and I'm still waiting for my forever family. My situation has become increasingly urgent because the people caring for me need to leave the home where we currently live, and they still haven't found another place where they can take all the dogs under their care.<br/><br/>Everyone who knows me agrees that I'm a happy, energetic boy. I love playing with my canine friends, running around, and having fun with balls and stuffed toys. If I had to choose my absolute favorite activity, it would definitely be going for a run!<br/><br/>I tend to be a little shy around people I don't know at first, so I need a bit of time to build trust. But once I feel safe, my affectionate side comes out right away, and I won't hesitate to come over and ask for some pets.<br/><br/>I live completely indoors, only going outside to do my business and enjoy my playtime. I've also lived with cats without any problems.<br/><br/>After almost two years of waiting, I still believe there's a family out there for me. I just need someone willing to give me a few days to feel comfortable and discover the happy, gentle, playful companion I can be. I've been waiting for the chance to fill a home with life and love.<br/><br/>I hope to find a loving and responsible family that will take good care of me!
