Chief's Story

When you are constantly reminded that you are not good enough you will often start to believe it. I spent most of my life being passed from house to house, sometimes for being "too much", and other times because I was not enough. My friends here at Hope 4 Paws knew me under many different names and at different points in my life but one thing remained constant - I was always happy to see them.

I thought I had finally found my forever family this last time around after my previous owners gave me to a friend of theirs. Through no fault of my own, I was constantly loose and dodging traffic until my former family was fed up with taking care of me. The shelter staff here finally convinced them to surrender me to the shelter and when we arrived for the appointment they offered to leave my "jail" (crate) with me. After I was surrendered, mom gave me the name Chief to show that I was finally in charge of my life and fate and didn't have to suffer at the hands of humans anymore.

Though I am an older gentleman whose gray face tells a story of hardship, I still have quite a bit of energy left in the tank. I love chasing my tennis balls, chewing hard toys, and singing my ballads of cheese. I am searching for my REAL forever, a family who will love me until the end of my days. I would do best in a home with children twelve and older where I will be the only pet.

Don't give up on this old man just yet. Help me find the family I deserve!
