Chief's Story

Meet Chief!

Chief is a rottie (possibly hound?) mix who is an estimated 5-6 years old. This gentle soul came to us very starved and neglected, picked up on one of the coldest days of the year.

Since arriving at the shelter, Chief has been fixed and is slowly putting on weight. He’s around 50 pounds but needs to gain more. He sits and shakes like a gentleman and seems to love other dogs, especially his BFF Troy. He walks well on a leash but keeps his nose to the ground, smelling all the smells.

We think Chief may have been an outside dog because he doesn’t seem to understand toys or playing. He’s not aggressive but does seem anxious if we watch him eat so we let him eat his meals in peace.

Can you be a soft place for this sweet boy to land? Call us at 740-474-3741 to make an appointment between 11am-4pm. We do offer foster to adopt to make sure it’s the perfect fit!

*We do not kid or cat test; that does not mean we don't have dogs we believe would be kid or cat friendly! Your best bet is to call and ask our staff! Our only indicator of “dog friendliness” is how they react when walking by the kennels, so we always recommend a meet and greet*
