Chico's Story

Meet Chico!

Chico made the journey to us from our rescue partners in Los Barriles, Mexico after originally being rescued off the streets of Mira Flores. When he was first found, he was extremely underweight and clearly had spent far too long trying to survive on his own. Thankfully, thanks to compassionate rescuers and foster care, Chico's life has completely changed - and now this handsome boy is learning what it truly means to feel safe, loved, and part of a family.

Since arriving in foster care, Chico has absolutely blossomed. He's gained healthy weight, his coat is now shiny and beautiful, and his sweet personality shines brighter every day. He's discovered the joys of regular meals, comfy beds, toys, companionship, and of course a few favorite snacks like peanut butter and coconut oil. More than anything though, Chico loves his people. This boy is affectionate, loyal, and happiest when he's close to his humans. He forms bonds quickly and has become quite the little "velcro dog," always wanting to hang nearby, soak up attention, and be included in whatever you're doing. He sleeps happily in his own bed, though if given the opportunity, he'd gladly choose the human bed instead. Chico has also been doing wonderfully with the other dogs in foster care. While he can be a little cautious or unsure during first introductions, he settles in quickly once he realizes he's safe. Foster updates say he's become part of the daily dog wrestling crew and has proven himself to be both adaptable and social. He's learning fast, comes when called, listens well, and continues to grow more confident every day. Like many rescue dogs, Chico is still adjusting to this entirely new lifestyle, but it's been incredibly rewarding watching him relax, decompress, and simply enjoy being a dog.

We're still learning more about him each day, but one thing is already very clear - Chico is going to make an incredible companion for a very lucky person or family. If you've been looking for a loving, loyal, and resilient best friend to share your life with, Chico may just be your perfect match.

Submit your adoption application today to learn more and for a chance to meet this very special boy.

Will you be Chico's lucky hero?

PupFax: Chico
Adoption Status: Cleared and Ready!
Medical Clearance: Yes
Medical Status: Cleared
Location: Portland, Oregon
Rescue Intake Type: Rescue/International

At-a-Glance Stats
Breed: Mixed breed
Size: Medium
Sex: Male
Spayed/Neutered: Yes
Vaccinations: Yes
Microchipped: Yes
(Each adoption includes their wellness check, vaccinations (core shots), microchip and spay/neuter, which will be done before we can send them home with their adopter.)

Home & Lifestyle Fit
People: Good - friendly and cuddly
Dogs: Good (Can be nervous at first but fine once acquainted. He's crazy about people and bonds quickly. He's chill in the house, but also likes a rowdy romp with other dogs. He's good on leash. He's young and athletic and would be a great adventure buddy. And he's incredibly handsome with legs that go on for days."
