Chicken's Story

Hi! My name is Chicken, or I do respond to chickadee and chick as a nickname. I am a chihuahua that weighs 5.5 lbs currently and am working to put on a little bit more weight. Don’t worry I will accept any good food you give me and get so excited for meal time. The vet says I am about 7-9 years old, and don’t let that age fool you I am spunky when I want to be.

Since being rescued I started off very timid and scared but have really started to shine! I love to sleep and could sleep all day. Preferably in your lap while you work or in a pile of blankets near you. I love to go on walks and my little legs will be so excited and ready to go.

I am partially potty trained. Even at my older age when I tend to get stressed or too excited I have a small accident. If I am taken on scheduled outside breaks it isn’t an issue! Commands are also not my specialty but I am wanting to always be near my people and do the good thing. When I get stressed out with another dog barking or a delivery driver dropping off a package I start to shake. All I need is some nice pets and a blanket to wrap myself in! When in doubt get me in a warm cozy spot and I will be happy as can be.

My foster home has a fenced in back yard and I would like one at my new home. One of my favorite outdoor activities is being able to just lay on the porch and sunbath until I’m told to stop toasting. I do also like a good sniff around the yard and hopping after a squirrel! Yes it’s a little hop instead of a run and it’s the best way to chase a squirrel.

Even though I started off timid and have gotten much more comfortable I still get overwhelmed by loud noises or other dogs. While I did get to hangout with my foster brothers and did well with them, I could live with a calm, well behaved dog or I could be an only dog. Please no kiddos for me. Cats are ok. Can’t wait to meet you!

Chicken is spayed, microchipped, up to date on vaccines, current on heartworm preventative (tested heartworm negative), and current on flea/tick preventative. If she sounds like a match for you, please fill out an adoption application using the URL below:

Bit.ly/WHASadoptionapplication

Chicken’s adoption fee is $275.

***Please note, Willow Haven Animal Sanctuary is a foster based rescue.
