You might think I'm asking too much, but I'm worth it! I'm old enough to be trusted alone all day, don't require much exercise, make the cutest snorts and snarfles, looooove car rides, and am a good girl at the vet. Plus, I've got perfect bloodwork for a 7-9 year old dog (reason for testing is no longer a concern). Maybe better than yours! Oh, I forgot that these baby blues don't do much, so I'm pretty much blind. My eyes may get worse with age, but I will impress you with my super hearing and ability to map new spaces.
I am ok with apartment living, but I’d love someplace a little quieter. I thrive on routine and knowing what's going on, so if you have lots of visitors or changes, I'm not the one for you. Because I can't see and have herding instincts, I sometimes react to unexpected movements or sounds. I worked with a trainer and have learned all the important techniques for how to cope with new things like visitors, loud noises, and passing by other dogs. My foster mom will help you practice everything. You should know that I really love my foster mom, so I'll be pretty confused when she's not around, and I'll need you to be patient with me and help me adjust to all the new things. An experienced dog owner would be best for me - I need you to be in charge and look out for me so I can just be a relaxed, lazy doggo and live my best life. Even though I'm pretty picky, everyone at Speak loves me so much and they really want me to find the forever home I deserve!
Chick Pea is currently being fostered in Columbus, Ohio. She would do best in a home without young children or fur siblings. She is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on all vaccines and preventions. Speak for the Unspoken's Adoption Policy
Before completing our online application please read the following: Our adoption process involves multiple steps and it typically takes up to 2 weeks from the time we receive your application to the time your adoption is finalized. We reserve the right to deny any application without explanation. All of our dogs and/or puppies are in foster homes. We do not schedule “Meet and Greets” without an approved application. Our Adoption Fees start at $325 per dog, $75 per cat or kitten. We can adopt an animal ‘out of state’, but you must be willing to travel to where the pet is being fostered, and transport the animal yourself after the adoption. If you have other animals (dogs/cats) in your home, they must be up-to-date on vaccinations, heartworm testing and prevention (dogs), and spayed/neutered. We will verify this with your veterinarian. If your animals are not up to date, your application will be denied. Please make sure to fully complete your application; leaving questions blank or not including all requested information will delay your application. Once your online application is submitted, it can take our volunteers 5 to 7 business days to process it. If we have questions about your application, we will email you. Please make sure to add our email, adopt@speakfortheunspoken.com to your email so our messages do not end up in your spam folder! Once your application is approved by the processors, it is sent to the person fostering the dog you have applied for. They will make the decision on whether the animal that you applied for is the right fit for you and your home. They may also choose to initially contact you via email or phone. If you do not respond promptly to their email or phone call, they will move on to the next applicant. Your application will be saved on file for 1 year and will be used for all dogs you would be interested in that time-frame. No need to keep filling out applications! Adoption application approval means you are approved to adopt an animal from us, it does not mean you are necessarily approved for the animal you applied for. There may be specific circumstances in your home that do not make it a good fit for one animal, but it may be a fine fit for another.
