Chewy's Story

Chewy was an owner surrender due to a number of behavioral issues that developed due to him having Littermate Syndrome that wasn't properly addressed. When his sister was sent back to the breeder, he stopped eating, sometimes for weeks, and wouldn't come inside. He lost trust in humans and has made leaps and bounds since he was brought in to the rescue.

He goes on regular socialization walks in pet-friendly stores and now greets people when he's with a trusted trainer. His recall has improved, and his fearfulness is greatly reduced. He has warmed up to all of the other dogs in the house, in particular, the puppies. He wants to play with them and is quite gentle. He has attended classes through Alaska Dog Boarding & Training with his current foster. He has a great bed stay inside the house, and is a wonderful protector of the backyard. He loves to lay out on the back deck and survey his yard.
