Chewy's Story

Requirements:
-If there is another dog in the home, the dog must be compatible with Chewy
-If there are children in the home, they must be respectful of a dog's boundaries and at least 15 years old
-Chewy's home must have a fully secured fenced yard (no apartments)

Pup-sonality:
Chewy is the type of dog that is always happy to see you. Whether you leave for 5 minutes or a couple of hours, his wagging tail will always greet you when you return.

Chewy has had a bit of a rocky start but is a really good boy once you get to know him. He knows how to stay and come when called, and can be easily redirected if he feels the need to bark at other dogs or strangers. He likes other dogs, but mostly small dogs his own size. At his core, he is a protector and is very loyal to his humans, although he doesn't enjoy being grabbed at by little ones.

Chewy loves his walks and car rides, but doesn't seem interested in toys. He really just wants to follow you around all day and see what you might be up to. He loves lots of pets and will do some cuddling, but he's not really a lap dog. Chewy is house-trained and sleeps well through the night in his own spot.

Chewy's ideal family will have space for him to chill on his own while watching his humans and take him for lots of walks while continuing to work with him through positive reinforcement to reduce his stress when meeting new people. An adult-only home would be best, especially if the family is often at home. He is currently easily redirected, but this will have to continue to ensure a happy dog and a happy family. He is a silly boy that will make you laugh and will always be by your side.

Medical Note: Chewy received a Pro Heart 12 injection on May 26, 2025. Pro Heart 12 protects against heartworm disease for 12 months. He will only require Nexguard each month for flea/tick prevention until April 2026. For May 2026, he will require a new prescription for Nexguard and Heartguard or Advantage Multi for year-round ongoing preventative treatment.

Chewy has had a complete dental done, with extractions, and has been given a complete senior blood panel with a recheck for elevated liver enzymes, and everything came back normal.
