Chewy (Chicken Wing)

Chewy (aka “Chicken Wing”) is a 5 year-old chihuahua who has spent the last couple of years surviving on his own in rural Talco, Texas. The woman who found him noticed his injured leg and went to check with the people at the house he’d been hanging around. They told her he was “just a stray,” that he’d been there for years, and that she could take him if she wanted. So she did.<br/><br/>Now he’s safe — and officially one of ours.<br/><br/>Chewy’s front leg is in rough shape, but it seems to have been that way for a long time. He’s adapted to it and doesn’t appear to be in pain, just off balance. Once he has his amputation surgery, he’ll finally be able to move comfortably again and live the life he deserves. We’ve helped several dogs through this same surgery, and they always recover faster than you’d expect — they heal, adjust, and move on, because that’s what dogs do.<br/><br/>Chewy is everything little dogs often aren’t: steady, funny, quiet, friendly, and unbothered. He’s the kind of small dog even big-dog people can appreciate, and the kind small-dog people dream of. He’s good with other dogs, cats, and kids, and he’s crate-trained and house-trained.<br/><br/>Chewy will be fully vetted prior to adoption — including neuter, vaccinations, microchip, parasite treatment and prevention, and surgical treatment for his forelimb injury (amputation).<br/><br/>If you’re looking for a low-drama, high-charm companion who’s already proven his resilience, Chewy might be your guy.
