Chewy's Story

WE NEED HELP‼️
Donations, a special adopter, sponsor and/or a rescue partner needed‼️
Chewy was picked up by animal control and is now available for adoption or a rescue pull.
It appears Chewy lived his life as a chained dog based on the extra heavy duty collar and the heavy metal clasp he was wearing. He has visible hair loss and an irritated skin patch on his chest most likely from the constant rubbing of a chain. He is also very underweight (it does not show just how much in his pictures). What is even more disheartening is that he is heartworm positive.
Despite all the neglect Chewy has endured he is the sweetest boy who very much wants to be near people. He loves positive attention and wants very much to be petted and loved. Even as starved as he is he is very gentle when he takes treats from your hand. He is very outgoing, confident and playful. He will require a bit of training because he does pull on his leash but he is so people and food motivated that this can be easily accomplished.
Chewy is approximately 4-5 years old and right now only weighs 45 pounds. His ideal weight would be more in the 55-60 pound range.
We are humbly asking for donations to be called directly into Guntersville Animal Hospital & Surgery Center for his heartworm treatment. Please call (256)582-3184 to make a donation for Chewy and help us save his life.
Chewy came in with a female companion, Lilly who is also heartworm positive and will require the same medical care. It is obvious these two dogs were used for breeding.
If you are interested in meeting Chewy, please come by the clinic at Guntersville Animal Hospital, 1609 Henry St, Guntersville. Mon-Fri 7:30-5:30 and Sat 7:30-12. Please call (256)582-3184 for more info.
