Chet's Story

Chet is a 6 year old, mixed breed. He was surrendered to the shelter after he was no longer getting along with the other dogs in the home. Chet is neutered, updated on his vaccinations, flea treated, dewormed, and microchipped.

This outgoing little guy is the life of the party! He's super playful, outgoing, and a bit of an attention hog (not that we can blame him with that cute face of his)! He's looking for a new forever family that loves to have fun as much as he does.

While Chet absolutely LOVES people. His extreme love for, well, love also drives him to hop fences from time to time, so we recommend he be kept on a lead when outside of the home.

Chet very much enjoys his outdoor time, though. He just needs a few minutes to calm down when meeting new people on his walks, but once he does he's a gentlemen on the leash.

He would do best in a home without any cats. He has killed them in the past.

Chet does suffer from separation anxiety and so we recommend he go to a home where his people are home most of the time or that he go home with a canine buddy to keep him company.

If you are interested in adopting Chet, please fill out an adoption application using our website (echumanesociety.org) and a member of staff will be in touch with you as soon as possible. If you are using a phone or tablet to fill out your adoption application, please call or message the shelter to ensure we received it. Elk County Humane Society's Adoption Policy
Adopting a new friend from the Elk County Humane Society is really very simple. All you have to do is fill out our application for the dog or cat you are interested in. This can be done right at the shelter or by filling out the online application on our website. The application contains some questions to help us get to know you better. Supply a few non-family references that can vouch for your ability to care for an animal. We do require any dog or cat at home to have a valid/current rabies vaccination and you will be required to bring proof when adopting. When the paperwork is all done a "meet and greet" with other family dog(s) will be encouraged. Once everything is approved, we will fill out the paperwork to make it all official, unless the pet is not yet spayed or neutered then they will be put on foster until they are fixed. If it doesn't work out, don't worry! We offer a 90 day return policy where your adoption fee will be refunded if your new pet turns out to not be the best fit. All dog adopters must leave the shelter with either a yearly or lifetime license before adopting their new best friend. Easy, right?
