Chester's Story

Meet Chester! Chester is heartworm negative, neutered, fully vaccinated, and has an absolutely fantastic personality. He is just a genuinely good dog.

He currently lives with seven resident dogs ranging from 40-100 pounds and loves being part of the pack. He is respectful with dogs of all sizes, shares toys, humans, and dog friends, takes corrections well, and has shown no dominant or possessive behaviors. Because he is so social, I think he would be happiest in a home with another friendly dog.

Chester loves his people and is a serious snuggle bug. If you are sitting down, he would like to be right there with you. He has no issues with body handling and is happy to get all the attention you are willing to give him.

He is trustworthy out of his crate, with one exception: open trash cans are apparently impossible to resist. Otherwise, he is a pretty easy guy. He loves walks, although he does pull a little, and he corrects easily because he really wants to please. He has excellent recall and seems to respect backyard fencing.

Chester enjoys car rides, treats, food, and playing tug-of-war. He is also great at the vet and seems to believe humans can do no wrong. He knows sit, down, and wait, and would enjoy learning more commands.

He has a medium energy level and is happy to play or go for a walk, but he is equally happy to hang out with his people.

His two biggest quirks? He is a sloppy drinker, so a mat under his water bowl is probably a good idea, and he politely requests no cats. He cannot resist chasing them.

Overall, Chester is a happy, social, affectionate young dog who really just wants to be part of the family. If you are looking for a dog who loves dogs, loves people, loves snuggling, and is always ready to be included, Chester might be your guy!

Big Paws of the Ozarks's Adoption Policy
All adopters must fill out an application on our website with all necessary information. From there, our staff will conduct a phone interview and answer any questions regarding the dog or the adoption process. Once approved, a meet and greet is scheduled with the family, dog, and dog's foster family. This is the time where other pets can be introduced. If the meet and greet goes well, we can send the dog in a trial adoption for a few days to make sure it is a perfect fit for everyone. From there the adoption is finalized through payment of the adoption fee and transferring of vet records.
