Cheddar Cheezdoodle's Story
Update 4/26: We have to completely redo Cheddar’s bio, it’s all lies now! No more scaredy-doodle, he’s an excited happy playful puppy now that he’s come out of his shell. He jumps and kisses meeting new people, loves to play with other dogs does fast zoomies around the yard. He’s about 1-2 years old but still has puppy energy, 20lbs full grown, and ready for a home. He can get a little nervous being picked up and his collar grabbed but has gotten much more comfortable about everything now. Our CheezDoodle is looking for a quiet but active adult home that can keep up with his fun puppy energy. Email njwoof@cs.com to meet Cheddar in Northern NJ

His origin story:
Say “cheese”! 🧀 📸

Meet Cheddar, the scaredy-doodle!

This young man was abandoned locally, his background a mystery. He was already neutered and recently groomed but no one came to claim him at the shelter 🤷♀️. He is a nervous guy who can get defensive with quick movements and some handling/being picked up but sweet and needy if allowed to warm up and come to you on his terms. He stares at you and has full conversations like he’s trying to desperately communicate something but we aren’t sure exactly what. Is he hungry? Want a walk? Playtime? Did Timmy fall down the well? 🤷♀️. He definitely looks like he was loved and cared for at one point and we wish he could actually talk and tell us his story.

He’s warming up to other dogs and even starting to play with them a little and we can see he has great potential. We think he’s a mini golden doodle, mini labradoodle, or maybe just a big mini poodle, about 22lbs and 2 years old. He’s seen out vet (that was a bit dramatic 😳 a muzzle was involved), been updated on shots and is ready to find a calmer adult home that will go slow, respect his space and give him time to bond and adjust.

Email njwoof@cs.com to meet Cheddar the doodle in Northern NJ… (dammit we should have just named him Cheezdoodle! 🤦♀️ what a wasted opportunity!)

Since COVID-19, we are no longer holding our Sunday adoption events until further notice, but we are scheduling meet and greet appointments with a specific dog or dogs at our meeting spots in Northern NJ. To streamline adoptions, all communication before, during, and after the adoption process is done through email only: we have limited volunteers able to return phone calls. Submit an application from our website www.secondchance.petfinder.com to speed up the adoption process and email any questions to us at njwoof@cs.com. Please check your email regularly for next steps. All our dogs reside in foster care in Northern NJ until adoption and we do not have a central shelter location. We are a small all-volunteer organization focused on rescuing local dogs from area shelters, as well as accepting some surrenders and puppy mill rescues.
