Cheddar (Bay Biscuits)'s Story

Cheddar is a young Catahoula and Labrador Retriever mix who was born at the end of November. She had a very rough start to life. Cheddar and her littermates came to the shelter scared, starving, and dehydrated, with several of the puppies suffering from abscesses and wounds.

Since arriving, Cheddar has been living with a foster family where she can learn that people can be kind, gentle, and loving. With patience and care, she has made wonderful progress. One of the biggest milestones has been learning to enjoy affection—when she first arrived she didn’t want to be touched, and now she happily cuddles up with her foster family.

Cheddar is doing well with potty training and is continuing to learn what it means to be a loved family dog. She rides nicely in the car and gets along with other dogs, even if she’s still figuring out how to play with them.

Cheddar will be spayed before going to her new home and is current on her vaccines. We expect she will grow to be around 50–60 pounds when fully grown.

Cheddar is looking for a patient, loving home that will continue to help her build confidence and show her the good life she deserves. With a little time and kindness, this sweet girl will make a very loyal companion.
