Cheddar's Story

Meet Cheddar, better known around here as Cheddar Bae. He’s a red leopard Catahoula mix born March 3, 2026. He’s coming up on 7 months old, weighs about 50 pounds, and has never known a stranger.

Cheddar loves people and dogs with his whole heart and is one of the happiest, friendliest dogs his foster has ever had the joy of knowing. He loves to cuddle, play, and just be with his people. He’s got a beautifully spotted nose made for giving kisses to and the prettiest, most loving eyes. Don’t worry, he’ll give plenty of kisses back too.

Cheddar has been the star and beloved pup at many a Barkin Dogs event, winning over just about everyone he meets. Westport? No problem. Bar patio? Nailed it. Pet store? Easy. He rides amazingly in the car and is an all-around great dog to take places.

At 50 pounds, Cheddar is a big puppy, but he plays gently and happily with dogs of all sizes. He’s so gentle that he’s even let a 5 pound puppy lead him around by his leash, pounce all over him to play, and cuddle up with him when it’s time for a nap. He’d be very happy to have another dog companion, and he’s been good with cats too!

At home, Cheddar is fully house trained and sleeps well in his crate overnight. He loves toys, makes a great pillow, and is a good sport for baths and nail trims.

Cheddar loves being outside and is all about playing in the water. He’s brave, curious, playful, and always up for doing whatever you’re doing.

Cheddar is just a really good dog. He can go out and do things with you, play with the dogs, or curl up with you at home. He’s got a huge heart, a whole lot of love to give, and makes one heck of a companion.

Cheddar’s adoption fee is $475.

He is vet checked healthy, neutered, microchipped, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, fecal tested, and current on monthly heartworm and flea and tick prevention.

His adoption fee helps cover the cost of veterinary care, grooming, training, socialization, and supplies while he’s in rescue. As a small nonprofit, adoption fees also help us continue rescuing and caring for more dogs in need.
