Charlotte's Story

Meet Charlotte: a young, sweet Doberman mix with a love for life! Despite a tough start in life, she hasn't lost her zest.

Charlotte arrived as a young stray with significant weakness and muscle loss in her hind legs due to a severe case of hip dysplasia. To relieve her pain and help her move more normally, she underwent surgery on both hips in November 2025 to remove the poorly fitted "ball" portions of her joints. Because her muscles were so weak before the procedure, she has required intensive physical therapy and underwater treadmill sessions to rebuild her strength. Charlotte has made incredible progress in foster care and can now walk and run well, though she still finds stairs a bit challenging. She is looking for an adopter who can continue her daily exercises for a few more months to help her reach her full potential; and while she may always have a unique way of walking, she is a happy, resilient dog.

Since Charlotte's been healing in a foster home, they've gotten to know her really well! Here's what her foster family has ton say: "Charlotte is such a sweetie! She got along great with our two small dogs and when meeting other dogs, she just wanted to play with them. (We worked on her being less mouthy during dog playtime.) She knows 'fetch' and 'leave it.' We walked her a lot due to her surgery. She enjoys walks and was comfortable with up to 30-45 minute walks. We did have to watch her closely on walks because she likes to put everything into her mouth! Charlotte loves squeaky toys, meeting people and is crate and house trained. Overall, she's a lovely dog and will make a great addition to her new home."

***ADOPTION FEE SPONSORED*** Primary Color: Black Secondary Color: Brown Weight: 45.6lbs Age: 0yrs 11mths 2wks Animal has been Spayed
