Charlotte's Story
Charlotte is a sweet low-rider who would love to find a forever home to call her own! She has been showing off her sweet and gentle nature to anyone who crouches down low enough to make an introduction! She made her way to PAWS from the city shelter after being found as a stray.

Charlotte's primary love language? Lightly pressing her paw up against you to let you know that she'd like more pets (please!), and then crawling into your lap to give you as many kisses as she can. She also has a very silly side and has recently been showing off her play skills!

Charlotte currently has some difficulties using stairs due to her short legs and "uniquely" shaped squat-y body, so she would love a home that has limited steps in and out of the home so that she can get around as comfortably as possible. She has luxating patellas and may benefit from surgery in the future to help prevent arthritis from developing. Charlotte is also still working on her potty training.

Charlotte recently had a mass removed from her muzzle, which turned out to be a low-grade mast cell tumor. This thankfully means there's a low risk of it spreading, but, because the mass was located so close to her nose, we were limited in how much tissue could be safely removed. The results showed that some cancer cells were remaining, so an adopter should plan to monitor the area for regrowth in the future.

Charlotte is looking for an adopter who feels comfortable managing her care with a full-service veterinarian moving forward. If you can help this short and stout sweetheart come out of her shell, please submit your application or email us at adoptions@phillypaws.org to learn more about bringing Charlotte home!

Not ready to adopt but looking for some shorter-term companionship? Please email us at foster@phillypaws.org to learn more!

------------------------------------

This dog is considered a mixed breed because it's not accurate to identify breed mix by sight alone, so for most dogs, their mix is only a guess. We get to know each dog as an individual and strive to make matches based on personality, not on breed label.

------------------------------------

This dog is currently located in a PAWS foster home. In order to meet with any dogs in foster care, you will need to have a fully processed and approved application first. To get the adoption process started, please complete the adoption application at phillypaws.org/dogapp.

If you have any questions, feel free to email adoptions@phillypaws.org or call 215-298-9680 ext. 16.

Philadelphia Animal Welfare Society, 2900 Grays Ferry Ave, Phila, PA 19146 (by appointment only).
