Thank you!<br/><br/>Charlie is about as sweet as Shih Tzus can be and if he wasn’t 17 pounds, his helicopter tail waggles would surely allow him to take flight every time he sees you! Charlie came to the rescue as an owner release. At 3 years old, his personality is pretty well established, and he has learned a thing or two about relaxing. Charlie loves to accompany you wherever you go and will gladly plop down next to you in whatever activity you may be engaged in.<br/><br/>He loves to play fetch with you outdoors with a squeaky ball, or indoors with his favorite toy shrimp. Charlie is house trained and will eliminate during his walks with you, and will alert you when he wants to go out in the morning with a gentle greeting and paw. While he is not particularly food motivated, he still enjoys a treat every now and then. His preferred love language is cuddles and pets!<br/><br/>Speaking of preferences, Charlie is more of a people’s dog than a dog’s dog. He does well with the children in his foster family and people that he meets on his walks. He is more comfortable interacting with other dogs his size or smaller rather than with dogs that are larger than him. Charlie will vocally share his opinion as quietly grumbles (his version of talking) with you about his day and will speak up to let you know when there’s a visitor. Charlie’s cheery disposition will surely add spark to your life!<br/><br/>These are the highlights of Charlie’s behaviors and preferences:<br/><br/>· Charlie is house trained, although he is still learning basic commands. He has a great understanding of “sit”, but needs work on “lay”/“come”/“heel”/etc.<br/><br/>· Charlie will do “spins” or “figure 8s” when he needs to go potty.<br/><br/>· He is not an enthusiastic eater, and most of the time will feed only in the evenings.<br/><br/>· Charlie is a people dog, but he does prefer female human companions rather than male ones.<br/><br/>· Charlie would love to be able to sleep with his people at night.<br/><br/>The following are required for Charlie’s adoption:<br/><br/>· Because Shih Tzus can live 16+ years, applications will only be accepted from age appropriate individuals who will be able to provide the care and attention Charlie deserves for the rest of his life.<br/><br/>· A home with a moderate to slower pace lifestyle. This can be an adult only household, although Charlie enjoys being with children, so a family with older children who have demonstrated that they understand how to be gentle and mindful of small dogs will be considered.<br/><br/>· A family who is home most of the day, will take him on frequent walks, and include him in their daily activities.<br/><br/>· Live within 30 minutes of Saint Paul, MN<br/><br/>· Agree to attend the annual Shih Tzu Rescue Reunion held in September of each year.<br/><br/><br/>Charlie is neutered, current on vaccinations, microchipped, and on heartworm and flea/tick preventative. His adoption fee is $420.00 plus $37.91 sales tax, for a total of $457.91.<br/><br/>To meet Charlie, please complete an adoption application at the website listed in the first paragraph.
