Charlie's Story

Charlie is a gentle giant, plain and simple. It doesn't take long for this affectionate, loyal, and tolerant guy to happily bounce around you. His nickname at the shelter was “Charlie Bounce” for good reason. He came out of the shelter overweight and is currently shedding the pounds; the lighter he gets, the more bouncy we expect he'll be.

We are smitten with this dog who reminds us of his resilience every day. With an intake date of 10/26/22 at Baldwin Park Animal Care Center and the fate of having to spend the next fourteen months on evidence hold, Charlie’s world was very small. For a love bug like himself, the fact that he was rarely allowed to exit from his kennel must’ve been torture. Even after the hold was lifted, Charlie didn’t attract an adopter; due to overcrowding at the shelter, his future was put in jeopardy. On 1/20/24, we were thrilled to tell Charlie that we were breaking him out of the shelter, once and for all.

His foster parents say cuddly Charlie has been the perfect house guest. When he’s not laying back at home or snoozing, he enjoys his leisurely neighborhood walks. He’s good in the car and on the leash. He’s made some new human friends and enjoys time with his two foster siblings, a small and a large breed dog. He seems to be hard of hearing, but he’s been picking up on hand signals. A lover of treats and praise, he’s a highly motivated student and eager to please.

If you think Charlie might be the one for you, fill out the application today! https://k9kismet.org/adoption-application
