Charlie's Story

Meet Charlie, a 2 to 3-year-old and 15lb Dachshund mix who is ready to bring joy into your life!

Our furry friend enjoys cuddles, gets along great with other dogs, not aggressive as a rule, but is sadly terrified of most new situations. Charlie came from a hoarding situation and has been learning about living with people who love him. He is crate trained, but if door is closed, it is not his favorite place to be. If you leave the door open, he uses it as a safe space. He likes to be under the bed when you're sleeping and behind the couch or recliner if you are there. Charlie is very nervous due to past experiences. It seems like he has spent a lot of time in a crate and isn’t very familiar with the world outside.

Charlie was left behind by his owner with a responsible groomer. Charlie does have separation anxiety, so he needs a home where someone is around more often than not. He also needs to have a fenced yard and dog in the home. A female household would be the best fit.

He can be a loyal and loving companion, but he needs patience and understanding. A home that is familiar with hoarder dogs. Charlie is better with females, as he does bark at men. His ideal home would be with all females, no small or loud children, a fenced yard, owner ok with pee pads (very good with those!) and lots of patience and love.

If you’re looking for a furry friend, and you have time and patience, history with dogs of this nature, we know, that with time he will shower you with love, and become your faithful friend.

Let us know if you have an application on file, or apply:
https://doxierescue.wixsite.com/dsfh/adoption-form
