Charlene's Story

Charlene wasn’t just found- she was dumped, starving, covered in fleas and ticks, and trying to survive alongside her brother.

Someone chose to stop, pick them up, and give them a chance. Over the last eight months, she’s been loved, cared for, and taught what it means to be safe, and she’s made the most of it. Charlene is house trained, crate trained, walks beautifully on a leash, and already knows her basics. She’s smart, affectionate, and has that easy, loving personality that makes her feel like she’s always been part of your home.

She’s great with other dogs, friendly with people, and has been around kids. She eats separately from other dogs but otherwise fits in easily and happily. She’s the kind of dog who settles in beside you, follows you from room to room, and just wants to be included in your life.

The only reason she’s still looking is because the person who saved her is now facing health issues and no longer has the capacity to keep her and her brother. This was never supposed to be temporary for Charlene, but life had other plans.

She’s come so far from where she started. Now she just needs someone to make sure she never has to start over again.

Helpless Hounds Dog Rescue's Adoption Policy
For a complete list of our adoption criteria, please visit: https://www.helplesshounds.com/faqs NOTE: You must complete and submit an application and be approved to adopt prior to being able to meet the dog. We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks during the application approval process. We always try to select the right applicant for each dog, based on the dog’s needs and try to find the best match for both dog and human. We leave a dog’s profile online until either it has been adopted, or has received several applications. We are a non-profit organization that spends our adoption fees and donations on vaccinations, surgeries, various medical tests, medicines, food and supplies needed by our dogs. Our fees do not cover the overall expenses incurred by the care of our dogs, but they do help defray the costs involved. We thank you for your support.
