Chance's Story

Say hello to Chance! He's an 11-month-old black 55 lbs Labrador Retriever/Border Collie mix with a big heart and so much love to give! He’s a sweet, affectionate boy who loves to cuddle, stay close to his people, and join you for long walks or outdoor adventures. He has a beautiful black coat and feathery tail and the cutest white patch on his chest. And, you can actually see the sweetness in his eyes in his pics :) Chance is happiest when he’s by your side and thrives on companionship, making him a loyal best friend for someone looking for a devoted dog.

Chance is smart and eager to learn. He is house trained, crate trained and knows some basic commands. We think he'll thrive in a loving home with kids who are 10+ years old where he can feel relaxed and secure. He likes to play with other dogs although we think he'd like to be you're one and only so he can soak up all your attention and play with pups at the dog park or on play dates.

He's truly a great dog and will be a great family pup. He's healthy, up to date on all his vaccinations and Long Road Home has scheduled his Neuter procedure. He's living with a great family in Staten Island so reach out to Long Road Home Rescue (lrhrescue@gmail.com) today to get lots more info on him and set up a time to go meet this sweet lover-boy!

Long Road Home's Adoption Policy
Where do we get our dogs? Majority of our dogs come from high kill shelters. Some are owner surrender or strays. All of the dogs that come into our rescue have been in high emergency situations where they would not be wagging their tails. We work with a lot of shelters in the south as well as on long island. We have wonderful people who dedicate their time to the dogs and transport them into our long island foster homes. What happens to the dog after we accept it into the program? All of the dogs first go to see a vet. Once they receive a clean bill of health the go into a home. We normally give each dog at least a week in a home with qualified trainer before we place the dog into a foster. We really like to have the dogs house broken and to have at least started basic obedience training. After the trainer we place the dog into its new foster home until it finds its forever home.
