Chance's Story

Hi, my name is Chance! I'm a PURPLE pawprint, which means I will fit well into a home that meets some specific criteria. Here is what would work best for me in my new home:

-Personality: Playful, mischievous, affectionate, sensitive, big goober!!

-Can Live with Kids: Chance would likely not be a good fit with super young kiddos, but could probably live with dog-savvy older children/teenagers, pending an introduction at the shelter. At this time we are recommending ages 14+.

-Can Live with Cats: Unknown history, will need slow, supervised introduction. A confident, dog-savvy cat who can stand up for themselves would likely be best.

-Can Live with Dogs: Yes, Chance would love, love, LOVE to have another social, well-matched dog to hang out with and learn from! Any potential canine housemates should be fairly energetic/active and always up for a wrestle-match!

-Can do Apartment Living: No, thanks! This big, gangly guy can be pretty sensitive to unknown sounds/situations and would be quite overwhelmed with apartment-life. A home with a fenced yard would be great!

-Potty Trained: Appears to be!

-Bite History: No

-Positive Reward Based Obedience Classes Required: Strongly encouraged-- Chance is still very much a puppy and would greatly benefit from some structured training classes.

-Energy Level: High!

-Needs Medical Procedure Before Going Home: Neuter/microchip provided by WHS.

Chance is a sensitive soul who's still experiencing lots of new things in the big world! He can be fearful in new situations, but is making lots of progress since arriving at the shelter. Chance is highly food motivated, which helps in creating positive associations with unknowns. This exuberant, lanky, goofball is very much still a playful puppy, with a heavy desire to chew, so his new home should be prepared to find him appropriate outlets - such as toys and chews! Chance is affectionate and active. He would do best in a home who has the time and dedication to provide training, enrichment, and investment in his future.

If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application on our website (www.whatcomhumane.org/adopt) or in person at our facility. We recommend calling into the shelter after your application has been submitted so our front desk can give you next steps on our adoption process.
