Chance's Story

Meet Chance!
Age: 2 years
Breed: Lab Mix
Energy Level: Medium–High

Personality & Story:
Chance is a sweet, affectionate, and playful pup who adores people. He may be timid and anxious at first, but once he feels safe, he becomes incredibly cuddly, loving, and full of energy. Chance loves being part of the family, whether that’s snuggling on the couch, following you around, or joining in on adventures.

He is very gentle with kids of all ages and has had exposure to both older and younger children. Chance gets along wonderfully with other dogs—he loves to play once he’s comfortable—and he is curious and playful with cats, though introductions should be slow and supervised.

Chance is fully house trained and crate trained; he loves his crate and sees it as his safe space. He enjoys toys, chews, and tug-of-war, and walks well on leash. If things get overwhelming, he may lower himself to the ground, needing gentle reassurance. He can get car sick, which may be linked to anxiety, so positive associations with car rides will help him feel more comfortable.

Good With:

Dogs: Great with other dogs; loves to play when comfortable
Kids: Gentle and affectionate with children of all ages
Cats: Curious and playful; slow, supervised introductions recommended
Adults: LOVES people and bonds quickly

Training & Home Life:
Chance thrives in an active home with lots of love, structure, and enrichment. He enjoys walks, playtime, and interactive toys. He is playful, energetic, and loves being included in family life. Once he warms up, he’s a loyal companion who loves cuddles and attention.

He would do best in a home that can offer patience, consistency, and opportunities for socialization, play, and mental stimulation. A home with another friendly dog would be ideal, and a family that enjoys an active lifestyle will help him thrive.

Health Note:
Chance is currently heartworm positive, which is very treatable. Heartworm is transmitted by mosquito bites and is not contagious to other pets or people. Chance is already on his treatment plan, and the rescue will fully support his adopter through the remainder of the process. Dogs go on to live completely normal, happy lives after treatment—and Chance is expected to do just that!

Fostered in Norwich, ON
