Chance's Story
Meet Chance

Vibe Check:
Retired from Ridglan Farms, wanting to forget what he has endured. Ready for the good life.

Fun Fact:
No socks are safe, hes a real sock thief!

Rescue: Albert's Dog Lounge
Age: Adult
Size: Medium
Fostered in: Stoughton, Wisconsin

Chances Origin Story

Like all the beagles released from Ridglan Farm, Chance has not had a life full of family, love, and socialization. He will need patience and understanding to make up for lost time.

Health Notes

He is neutered and is fully up to date on his vetting. He is currently eating a raw diet, and it is recommended that an adopter continue with this to ensure that his tummy remains stable. Many of the beagles that came out of RF had significant digestive issues for a while, and the raw diet seems to have stabilized that. The Ridglan beagles have been found to be prone to vaccine reactions. He will need to receive Benadryl 24 hours before and 24 hours after vaccines to prevent this going forward.

Personality

Chance has overcome a lot of trauma in his newfound freedom. He is friendly but initially anxious around loud noises and fast movements. This curious pup prefers to be with you as opposed to being left alone. Chance is food motivated (classic Beagle) and isnt afraid to let out a reminder howl to share his frustration with late mealtimes. Hes excited when his foster family returns home.

In public, he is still slightly jumpy with loud moises or large moving objects, but otherwise does wonderfully. He greets people with a slow approach and a wagging tail.

Family Matters

Chance would love a calm home with a confident dog sibling to teach him how to be a dog. Chance is initially submissive with other dogs, engaging when comfortable. One caveat: He doesn't really understand social cues, as we are finding with many RF beagles. Your other pets, especially dogs, will also need to be dog friendly and tolerant.

Chance has not been in a home with children but has been respectful of cats (may be curious initially).

Things Chance Loves

Giving and getting kisses
Freeze dried treats
Other patient pups
Stealing clothes out of your hamper
Following his humans

Signature Move

Pretending like hes not watching you but you both know hes watching you...

Bucket List

Learning how to be a pet
Finding a new BFF
His own fluffy bed
A dish that will always have enough healthy food to fill his belly
Lots of walks
Space to sniff with that beagle nose
A patient, loving family with soft hands and lots of love to offer

A Few House Rules

Because these dogs have been through so much, it is our job as those entrusted with their care to be very thoughtful in their placement. Here are our requirements.

Fenced yard required
No apartments
Another confident dog in the home required
No small children in the household
Strong veterinary history with current pets up to date on vaccines, heartworm testing/prevention, and current pets spayed/neutered
Preference given to adopters with beagle or hound experience
Minimal hours home alone preferred
Live within 5 hours of our headquarters in Whitewater, WI

Neutered
Microchipped
Working on his outside potty skills, wears a belly band when left alone
Learning how to walk on a leash, using a harness and long line at the dog park to gain confidence
PLEASE do not crate, does spectacularly free roaming the house
UTD on vaccinations
UTD on preventatives

Albert's Dog Lounge is a specialty rescue focusing primarily on senior and special needs dogs.

Our process includes an approved application, reference checks, a homevisit, and then a meet and greet with the dog.
