Cayse's Story

*** AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION, FOSTER, or FOSTER TO ADOPT ***

Meet Cayse! He is currently in our P.A.C.K. Program, a 9-week intensive program for routine obedience, agility, and handling training with a prison inmate trainer and he is almost ready to show off his new skills! His new abilities include 'sit', 'wave', 'shake' and more! New adopters should realize that PACK Program graduates will require regular, ongoing reinforcement of learned behaviors in order for them to become permanent.

Just look at that little tail nubbin'! Cayse is a joy to have around and is such a smart guy. He really enjoys attention from people and will gladly accept a belly rub on any given day.

Cayse does ok with other dogs, but his natural herding instincts sometimes override his good boy brain, and he starts nipping at the heels of the other dogs. Some dogs may not appreciate his play style. Small creatures he sees as prey, so it's best he doesn't go to a home with cats around or chickens!

He will need a secure 6' fence that is made of wood or vinyl. He has proved that he can climb a chain link fence. Especially if there is a small creature just on the other side. He is tempted to check if the grass is indeed greener on the other side.

If you're looking for a loyal & loving companion who would excel in walks, jogs, agility fun, Cayse might be your match. Apply to meet him today. He'll be graduating near the middle of March!

Black Dog Animal Rescue's Adoption Policy
BDAR considers pet adoption to be a privilege and that good pet owners can demonstrate a history of responsible practices. Our basic requirements are as follows: Adopters must be at least 18 years of age Adopters’ current pets must be current on their rabies vaccination per local ordinances Adopters must be able to provide a current veterinary reference if they own other pets or have recently owned pets If the adopter rents, they must be able to provide a landlord reference stating that pets are allowed on the property Adopter cannot intend for the animal to be kept as an outdoor only pet, or for the primary mode of containment to be tethering Adopters must be a good match for the animal in question as determined by our adoption counselors Our adoption fees includes spay or neuter, current age appropriate vaccinations, microchip with lifetime registration, a free first vet exam, and 30 free days of pet health insurance. A note about our adoption fees: BDAR utilizes a variable pricing structure for all of its adoptable animals. Adoption fees are determined based on an animal's perceived desirability, age, training or medical investment, and the length of time they have been available for adoption. Some animals are priced higher than others. These animals' adoption fees provide a legacy gift for others in the program who may need additional resources in order to get the same chance in a forever home.
