Seeking a Training Foster or Adopter for this handsome boy! <br/><br/>Meet Cashew! <br/>If you've followed ASF for a couple of years, you may remember him. Sadly, Cashew was returned this year through no fault of his own. Now he's looking for his true forever home — or a committed training foster to help him shine. <br/><br/>Cashew is a 3-year-old, neutered male Australian Shepherd currently being fostered in Bear, Delaware. He's a devoted companion who loves nothing more than being with his people. He's quiet and well-mannered in the house and perfectly content lounging nearby while you go about your day.<br/><br/>The Good Stuff <br/><br/> House trained<br/> Crate trained (though he prefers his humans!)<br/> Velcro cuddle bug<br/> Food motivated & SMART <br/> Athletic & playful<br/> Great with larger, balanced female dogs<br/> Good in the car <br/> Not bothered by thunderstorms <br/><br/>Cashew is your classic Aussie — loving, rambunctious, opinionated, and a total silly nut. Outside, he's high-energy and loves to run and wrestle in a fenced yard. Inside? He settles beautifully and is happy to curl up next to you on the couch. <br/><br/>The Challenges <br/><br/>Cashew is dog reactive and dog aggressive on walks. This is a training issue, and he needs an experienced owner committed to continued positive reinforcement training (treats and redirection work well!). He does best in a front-lead harness or gentle leader.<br/><br/>He is also:<br/> A NO on small dogs and cats<br/> Not suitable for homes with children<br/> Reactive to trucks (may lunge/bark)<br/> High prey drive — needs monitoring in high-activity situations<br/><br/>His reactivity is truly his only major hurdle. With structure, consistency, and experienced handling, Cashew has so much potential. He wants to please and bonds deeply with his person. <br/><br/>Cashew's Ideal Home <br/><br/>• Secure fenced yard<br/>• No children<br/>• No small pets<br/>• Experienced Aussie/herding breed owner<br/>• Continued training commitment<br/>• A balanced, mellow larger dog OR happy as an only dog<br/>• A comfy couch for cuddles <br/><br/>Cashew will follow you from room to room, shower you with kisses, and flop over for belly rubs.
