Meet Cashew, a 2-year, 10-month-old Akita mix who has been in our care since May 2025 and is still waiting for her chance at a forever home.<br/><br/>Cashew is a high-energy dog who would do best in an active home that can keep up with her. She is smart and eager to learn, already knowing “sit” and “lay down,” and would benefit from continued training and structure.<br/><br/>Cashew has a condition called masticatory muscle myositis, which affects the muscles in her jaw. She eats and drinks comfortably but may have some difficulty picking up toys. This does not stop her from enjoying life or being an active, engaged dog. She is looking for a home that understands her needs and is willing to invest time in her continued training and care.<br/><br/>If you’re looking for an energetic and intelligent companion, Cashew may be a great fit.
