Cashew's Story

Meet Cashew!
This gorgeous girl is a 10 month old female mixed breed. We were told she has some Great Pyrenees and Lab in her, but she is very small to be just those two breeds. We believe she's more likely a Border Collie/Lab mix.
Cashew is a sensitive soul, and is going to need time to fully adjust. She had been with her previous owner for nearly her whole life, so coming to the shelter is a big change. She's never shown us any sign of aggression, but she is very nervous and tends to shut down when overwhelmed. Even with just a few days to get to know us she is doing much better, but she will need a patient owner that can prove to her they're trustworthy!
Cashew's previous owners told us she knows a few commands such as sit, kennel, and bed. She is not housebroken yet, so she will need training in her new home. Cashew would do best with an experienced owner who has worked with nervous dogs before, as it will be important to not be too harsh when training her or you'll risk scaring her worse. Now that's getting used to our employees she is showing her snuggly and playful side with them, and she will make a wonderful addition to the right home!
Cashew lived with another dog previously and did great with them. Her owner said she loved to play, and she may do best with another dog in the home to help her settle in. We always recommend bringing your current dog out to meet Cashew before adopting to make sure they're a good match! We have noticed she quickly warms up when another dog is present. We think she will thrive with another canine companion.
Cashew has been started on her core vaccines and is ready to find a forever home! If you are interested in this sweet girl, please stop by the shelter to meet her!
