Cash's Story

Cash hasn't had it easy in her short life. She was in the New York Animal Care Center and arrived with a 'limited history'. We don't know exactly what that means but all we know is that she was terrified at the shelter. These were some of her notes at the shelter: CASH has spent the better part of her first two weeks trembling, pancaking, urinating on herself when humans approach and flinching at the sound of the leash clasp when she is being readied for a walk.

I can't imagine what this girl went through. It seems as if this girl never experienced a kind, gentle day in her life.

The shelter is full, the shelter is crowded, animals are constantly coming in. There is only so much space to hold them.

Cash time was up and needed to be saved. She was placed on the At Risk List and she had only hours.

A very kind woman saw this girl need to be saved and saved her life.

Today, Cash is on her next journey of finding her forever home.

These are CASH'S STATS:
Approximate age 2 years old
Approximate weight 50 lbs
Breed (s) Amstaff mix
Spayed or neutered? spayed

Good with:
kids? She was found abandoned in a car in New York, terrified and so shut down in the shelter that she would wet herself when approached. But with patience, love, and the companionship of her foster siblings, she has blossomed into a sweet, affectionate, and confident girl.
This beautiful, cuddly companion loves people (once she’s been properly introduced), enjoys the company of dogs and cats, and plays endlessly with her canine friends. She’s surprisingly gentle with her feline housemate — giving respectful sniffs and backing off when told.
Personality & Quirks:
Loves to “dig” furiously at the couch cover or blankets before curling up beside you.
Enjoys frolicking with other dogs during playtime.
Protective of her family but will settle quickly when given calm, firm direction.
Classical music fan — especially during fireworks or thunderstorms!
Training & Skills:
Walks beautifully on leash.
Housebroken and crate trained.
Knows her basic cues and looks to her person for guidance.
Best Home for Cash:
Cash would thrive in a loving home with space to run and play. She’d be delighted to have a canine sibling, but she can also do well as an only dog if given plenty of attention. Because of her size, older children are recommended.
Cash has put in the work to become her best self — now she’s ready for a forever family who will give her the love, reassurance, and joy she deserves.
If you think you could be the one for Cash, please reach out to arrange a meeting.
