Cash's Story

Fostered in Gulf Shores AL

Meet Cash — a 6-month-old, 100% lovable, slightly squishy puppy who somehow manages to be both a Great Dane and a part-time whale. (We don’t question it. We just respect it.)

Cash was surrendered through absolutely no fault of his own and arrived in foster care ready to spread love, chaos, and mildly concerning ocean noises. Since day one, he’s been pure affection and puppy energy wrapped in a giant, wiggly body.

He currently lives with his new bestie, ar 6-month-old Dane mix named Dobby who is approximately half his size but twice as confused. They spend their days wrestling, zooming, and practicing WWE moves—but Cash settles down quickly when asked. (We’re still working on the concept of “gentle,” but honestly same.)

Cash doesn’t bark. No, no. That would be too normal. Instead, he communicates through whale noises. Yup. Actual, echoing, aquatic-sounding moans that will leave you wondering if you adopted a puppy, a sea creature, or an experimental government project.

Fully house trained ??
Crate trained ?? (unless you're home… then it’s whale hour again)
Loves everyone—humans, dogs, cats, probably mailmen ??
Great with kids, but bigger/older ones are best because Cash is… how do we put this… large and unaware of physics.

Cash firmly believes that everything you consume should be shared with him immediately.
Coffee? He’ll steal a lick.
Wine? He’ll taste-test.
He’s a sommelier of things-he-shouldn’t-have.

Nail trims? No problem.
Bath with a hose? Absolutely not.
Your shower? He’s in there before you are. And no, it’s not relaxing. At all.

?? A Note on His Health
Cash has been diagnosed with early onset hip dysplasia but our vet didn’t recommend surgery and currently he’s not even taking NSAIDs. He may eventually need them as he ages and grows. Yes, his gait is a bit funky, but his spirit is unstoppable. He lives life full-speed, full-volume, full-whale.

A home that loves big goofy puppies, tolerates ocean noises indoors, and understands that sometimes, the perfect dog comes with a couple extra vet appointments — and a whole lot of heart.

If you’re ready to adopt a lovable sea-mammal-in-training disguised as a dog, Cash is your guy.

Cash is neutered, fully vaccinated and chipped. His adoption fee is $400.

To read over the adoption requirements before applying, please go to www.nwflgdr.com/adopt.

Please note: NWFLGDR does not transport. All approved adopters are required to pick up the dog from his or her foster.

NW Florida Great Dane Rescue Inc.'s Adoption Policy
Our adoption requirements are as follows: 1. All Dogs and Cats in your home MUST be spayed or neutered. We will call your vet to verify this. We allow exceptions in rare medical instances upon verification with your vet only. 2. All Dogs and outdoor Cats in your home MUST be current and have been kept historically up to date on annual vaccinations and monthly (or semiannual) heartworm and flea prevention. We will call your vet to verify this. We allow exceptions to this in rare medical instances upon verification with your vet, ONLY. 3. You must be a minimum of 21 years of age to adopt and be able to prove you're financially able to care for a great dane should a medical emergency arise. 4. You must own the property in which you live or your landlord must be willing to verify that you are allowed to have a Great Dane in your rental home. We check property records.? 5. Our Great Danes require a sturdy fenced in yard, particularly young or active danes. Generally, a six-foot or higher privacy fencing is preferred. In certain circumstances, the Board may waive this requirement depending upon the Dane's personality and temperament. Any such exceptions will solely be at the discretion of the Rescue Board. Under no circumstances will we consider invisible or electric fencing as acceptable. 6. We only adopt Dogs as indoor pets. We will not adopt Dogs to be used as guard dogs or to be kept out-of-doors. 7. A home visit is required for ALL adoptions, without exception. This is not a white-glove inspection, rather it is to ensure that the home is a safe environment for the Great Dane. 8. We do not transport. If you are applying from out of area or out of state, understand that if your application gets approved, you will be expected to pick up the dane in the location that he/she is being fostered. In addition, if the adoption does not work out, it is your responsibility to bring the dane safely back to us. 9. There may be multiple applications for the same Dog. Our Great Danes are placed in the home we believe most suitable for them, based upon their individual needs and temperament. 10. Before applying below, please expect this application process to take about two weeks. If you are applying from out of area or state, please expect a slight delay. It will take us more time to get the home visit set up. At any time, if you have questions about the status of your application, please email the rescue at nwflgdr@gmail.com.
