Carver's Story

*TO APPLY GO TO www.LuckyDogRefuge.com* (Petfinder messages will not be seen)

Say hello to Carver, a lovable 6-7 year old, 28 lb hound mix with a voice as loud as his heart is big! Carver is a sweetheart through and through, and he's ready to find a patient and understanding family who will embrace him for who he is.

Carver's journey hasn't been without its challenges. He was adopted previously but unfortunately returned almost exactly 1 year later for being dog reactive. Since then, we've learned that Carvers reactivity is primarily leash reactivity. Off leash, Carver is dog selective and has shown that with the right match and proper introductions, he can enjoy playing and spending time with other dogs. Like many dogs, he has preferences when it comes to his canine friends, so thoughtful introductions are important. Patience, consistency, and positive reinforcement will be key in helping him build confidence and navigate his interactions with other dogs.

Carvers absolute favorite activity is fetch, and tennis balls are his favorite thing in the world! Dont let his 28 lb frame fool you—he regularly astounds everyone with just how high he can jump when theres a ball involved. He also enjoys getting out for a hike, where he can take his time, sniff absolutely everything, and, in true hound fashion, keep a very close eye on the local bird population. The quieter environment brings out a wonderfully laid-back side of Carver, and hes learning how to translate that same relaxed attitude into his everyday walks.

As Carver has gotten older, we've seen him start to embrace a more laid-back side of life. He would thrive with someone who understands the balance he needs—providing the structure, enrichment, and stimulation that help him succeed while also recognizing when he needs some space and time to decompress and recharge. An experienced and understanding household would be ideal. Carver can live with another dog with proper introductions, and children should be over the age of 10. He is eagerly awaiting his forever home and can't wait to shower his new family with love and affection!

**NOTE:** We do not know the exact breeds of our dogs; any mention of breeds is our best guess and not guaranteed.

**YOU CAN ALSO APPLY VIA THE DIRECT LINK BELOW.**

https://forms.gle/LXKMKSnagxLSad668

Thanks for considering a rescue pup!

Lucky Dog Refuge's Adoption Policy
Generally, puppies and adult dogs have an adoption fee of $600; senior dogs have an adoption fee of $350. However some dogs may have a higher adoption fees based on the extent of their training or other factors. We also may have "legacy dogs" whose higher fee help offset the medical costs of some of our emergency cases. Fees are set at the discretion of the rescue. The adoption fees covers only a portion of the expense the rescue spends on the medical care, housing, and transport of each rescue dog; the rest is covered through fundraising efforts. - The first step towards adoption is to complete an adoption application, which can be found online at our website www.LuckyDogRefuge.com, under the “Apply Now” tab or at https://forms.gle/LXKMKSnagxLSad668. - Do NOT use the Petfinder links or email to ask us about our adoptable dog listings - we do not always receive these messages and will not respond to them.
