He was adopted previously but unfortunately returned almost exactly 1 year later for being dog reactive. Since then, we've learned that Carvers reactivity is primarily leash reactivity. Off leash, Carver is dog selective and has shown that with the right match and proper introductions, he can enjoy playing and spending time with other dogs. Like many dogs, he has preferences when it comes to his canine friends, so thoughtful introductions are important. Patience, consistency, and positive reinforcement will be key in helping him build confidence and navigate his interactions with other dogs.<br/><br/>Carvers absolute favorite activity is fetch, and tennis balls are his favorite thing in the world! Dont let his 28 lb frame fool you—he regularly astounds everyone with just how high he can jump when theres a ball involved. He also enjoys getting out for a hike, where he can take his time, sniff absolutely everything, and, in true hound fashion, keep a very close eye on the local bird population. The quieter environment brings out a wonderfully laid-back side of Carver, and hes learning how to translate that same relaxed attitude into his everyday walks.<br/><br/>As Carver has gotten older, we've seen him start to embrace a more laid-back side of life. He would thrive with someone who understands the balance he needs—providing the structure, enrichment, and stimulation that help him succeed while also recognizing when he needs some space and time to decompress and recharge. An experienced and understanding household would be ideal. Carver can live with another dog with proper introductions, and children should be over the age of 10.
