Carter's Story

Meet Carter!

Carter is a handsome 10-year-old Pit Bull Terrier mix (about 50 pounds) with a gentle soul who is once again searching for the forever home he deserves. He was recently adopted and deeply loved, but through no fault of his own, his adopter developed serious health issues and could no longer care for him. Carter is currently being boarded while he waits for his second chance, and we'd love nothing more than to see him back in a home where he belongs.

This sweet boy is house-trained, leash-trained, and crate-trained. He's done well around children and has attended doggy daycare with 10-14 other dogs at a time without any problems. While he enjoys the company of other dogs in structured settings, he may be happiest as the only dog in the home where he can soak up all the attention. Carter is not a good fit for a home with cats.

Carter has a little arthritis in his hips, so marathon hikes aren't on his wish list. Instead, he'd much rather play a game of fetch, sniff around a fenced yard, and then settle in for a long nap under his favorite blankets. He absolutely loves being cozy and is happiest wearing his sweater most of the day.

He can be a bit shy when meeting new people, but once he trusts you, his affectionate and loyal personality shines. Like many dogs, he appreciates being left alone while he's sleeping.

Carter rides well in the car (he especially enjoys RV adventures!), has excellent house manners, and is simply looking for someone to share life's quieter moments with.

After losing his home through circumstances no one could control, Carter deserves the stability and love of a family committed to giving him the happy ending he's been waiting for. If you're looking for a mellow, devoted companion with a heart full of love, Carter is ready to meet you.
