Carter's Story

Hi there, I’m Carter! 🐾

I am an active, playful, and inquisitive boy who is learning to be so incredibly brave! I can be a little bit shy and reserved when meeting new people, but once I am given a bit of time to settle in, I really come out of my shell. I am a very smart, soulful pup who likes to look directly at my humans for guidance, and patience is the absolute key to winning my heart! Even though I am a sensitive guy, I am actually very environmentally confident. Whether we are out exploring or encountering new things, I am wonderfully neutral to other people, dogs, and anything else we might cross paths with.
I am a very adaptable roommate who sleeps perfectly through the night in my crate, and I have done wonderfully adjusting to a variety of different daily routines. My perfect day can include either heading out for longer, active walks or doing a series of many mini-outings to check out the world. I am also fantastic at self-entertaining quietly inside my puppy pen whenever my humans are busy, balancing my day with fun training sessions and plenty of well-deserved power naps. I am proud to say that I am fully crate-trained and nearly 100% potty trained!
I am a very adaptable roommate who sleeps perfectly through the night in my crate, and I have done wonderfully adjusting to a variety of different daily routines. Due to my polite, quiet nature and excellent indoor manners, I am perfectly suitable for apartment or condo living! As long as I get adequate physical exercise during the day, I tolerate my alone time with no issues at all. I might offer a small fuss initially when you first leave, but I settle down beautifully and have already done great being left alone for up to four hours at a time. If you have a calm, patient heart and are ready to give a sweet doll of a pup the space and love he needs to blossom, apply to adopt me today!

It Takes A Village Dog Rescue's Adoption Policy
Hopeful adopters must fill out an adoption application. All applications are screened and potential matches are contacted. Follow up questions are emailed. A phone call is set up to clarify any questions about the adoption process. At that point the fosters are provided the contact information for the potential adopters. They set up a meet and greet at the fosters home. During the meet the foster will tell the potential adopter the good, the bad. and the ugly about the dog... we want total transparency in order to have an open and successful adoption. After the meet we ask the fosters and the adopters their thoughts. If the adopter would like to proceed, their references are checked and a virtual home visit is conducted. If the adoptable dog has any sort of behavioural or medical issues a plan to address the issue would be required before adoption could proceed. If all is good then the adoption contract is sent out to be signed and returned along with the adoption fee. The foster is given the green light to arrange pick up.
