Carly - 895's Story

Carly was found under a car which is how she got her name. She is a Yorkie mix who is about 1-2 years old and weighs about 9 lbs. She was starving when she was found so her foster mom has been giving her extra food to help her get to the perfect weight. She is now at that perfect weight.

Carly needs to go to a home that is spic and span - she still has some bad habits that were likely acquired while she was starving. She likes to eat anything (clothes, blankets, etc.) that is laying around. As a result, her poo is really easy to find in the yard because it's so colorful. So far, she hasn't eaten her dog bed or throw pillows. However, because of this, she would not do well around small children because she might snap at fingers thinking the child might have food.

She has learned to bark enthusiastically (like a crazy dog) when her foster mom is getting her food, along with the other dogs' food, ready. We are working on that.
She gets along well with dogs who are the same size or slightly bigger than her. She hasn't been around a dog who weighs more than 15 lbs. She is too rough for a dog smaller than her.

Carly needs an active family who like to go for walks or throw balls in the yard. She is young and has lots of energy. She sleeps very well in her crate. She has learned (by herself) how to use the doggie door in her foster home. She loves to get attention from her person.

We are a RESCUE GROUP, not a shelter, and all of our animals are in foster homes. To start the adoption process, email us at adoptions@earstexas.org requesting an application. Submitting an application does not commit you in any way, but helps us make the best match between people and our available dogs. Your current or past dogs must be inside dogs who have been spayed/neutered and are on heartworm prevention.

All of the dogs in our program are inside dogs and are completely vetted including all vaccinations, spayed/neutered, free of internal parasites, microchipped, heartworm negative and on prevention before adoption. Our adoption process includes an application, check of vet records or personal references, interview, neutral site meet & greet with the dog and your family, and a home visit.
