Carl's Story
Meet Carl

Sometimes a dog needs a second chance. And sometimes, a second chance means finding the *right* home, not just any home.

Carl is an 8-year-old Beagle who is back with us after being adopted earlier this year. Unfortunately, the home wasnt the right fit for him, and Carl ended up in a serious altercation with the 80 lb dog in the home. Carl was injured and came back to us missing a portion of his ear.

We know that sounds like a lot, but Carls story isnt over. In fact, were hoping this next chapter is the one where he finally finds the home that understands him.

Carl is a sweet, people-loving guy who absolutely adores his humans. But he also has some very strong opinions about how he wants to live his golden years.

Carls ideal home would be one without other dogs. He struggled with resource guarding around the other dog in his previous home, and the situation eventually escalated. If there is another dog in the home, it would need to be a very carefully considered match with the right circumstances.

Carl would also do best without young children. He can be a bit of a grouchy old man once he's comfortable in a home, and he needs people who will respect his boundaries.

One VERY important thing to know: Carl does not like being startled awake. When he is sleeping, being touched can startle him, and he may nip out of surprise. He needs a family who understands this and can give him space when hes resting.

But when Carl is awake and ready for attention? He is a total sweetheart.

He is mostly house trained, crate trained, leash trained, rides well in the car, and loves puzzle food toys, crinkle toys, and chasing pretty much anything that moves. He is also an escape artist, so he should never be left outside unattended.

Carl is up to date on vaccines, deworming and prevention, and he is neutered. He is ready to go home.

Carl doesn't need a perfect family. He needs a family who understands him, respects his boundaries, and is willing to let this lovable old guy be exactly who he is.

Could that be you?

If you think Carl might be the right fit for your home, please fill out an adoption application on our website. Applications will be reviewed in the order they are received.

We are open:

Wednesday-Thursday: 12-7

Friday-Sunday: 12-4

Come meet Carl and give this sweet, slightly grumpy, gentleman another chance at the life he deserves.

(Follow her for a chance to win a FREE portrait photoshoot when she reaches 1,000 followers!)

Want early access to adoptable pets before they're posted on Facebook?
