Carl missed out on the blue eye thing, but he has a sweet personality and outgoing manner. He is well socialized and people oriented. He is named after Dolly’s husband. When the housing authority laid down the law on the number of allowed pets, his family reached out to PUP to re-home the puppies. Puppies arrived well fed and well socialized. We believe they will be mid-size when they are grown. The vet aged him at about 10 weeks on Sept 8. We don’t have a picture of mom or dad but we were told mommy was on the small side.<br/><br/>We submitted a DNA sample on sister Jolene and expect the results shortly. For now we are guessing pups are at least part lab, Australian Shepherd, husky, and Miniature American Shepherd. Nearly all the dogs from the area have at least some Chihuahua and some herding dog, and it is not uncommon for dogs to have more than 20 verified breeds in their DNA. We are guessing at his adult size and his adopter should be prepared to love him if he is smaller or larger than predicted. Carl is reliably using newspapers in the house. He enjoys spending time outdoors with his siblings and is getting the hang of going outside to do his business. House breaking is started but far from complete. <br/> <br/>The early months are when puppy learns the social skills needed to be a skilled dog in dealing with other dogs and a good citizen in the human world. Adopters should be committed to getting puppy into lots of new and different human social situations, hearing vacuums, trucks, and rattling garbage cans, meeting people who are clapping, laughing, with hats, tools, bikes and skate boards. AND puppy needs many opportunities to meet and greet dogs of all shapes, sizes and dispositions. Just sharing a home with another dog is not as much doggie socializing as puppy needs. If good canine social skills are not learned and maintained during these early months, it will be very difficult to ever master them. Puppy play dates, trips to the pet store, puppy socialization classes and later, obedience classes are particularly important. If all this doggie time and involvement seems like a good idea, you are up for a puppy! As always, a tired dog is a good dog. <br/><br/>Puppy has been vet checked, is vaccinated, and de-wormed. He will need two additional puppy vaccinations plus rabies at the adopter’s expense. We do place puppies outside the metro area if a firm plan for the alter surgery is in place; we do not ship. His required alter surgery is covered by the adoption fee if it is done by 6 months at the PUP clinic. We require that he be altered by 6 months.<br/><br/>If you are at least 21 years old and everyone in your household is on board with adopting a puppy, CALL 651-645-4370 between 7:00 am and 9:30 pm and we will return your call within 24 hours. We are pretty slow at responding to e-mail. Renters must provide proof that you are allowed to have a puppy.
