Carina's Story
Meet Carina, a sweet girl who came to us after the commercial breeder she lived in closed down. She never received the care, socialization, or support every dog deserves, but she's already showing us how much heart she has.

With patience and kindness, she's beginning to show curiosity toward the affection she's getting from our staff and volunteers. Watching her discover that humans can be safe is incredibly rewarding. She is good with other dogs, but we are not totally sure about cats though.

She'll need gentle guidance as she learns about life in a real home — things like housebreaking, normal household noises, and everyday activities such as a dishwasher running or a TV turned on. With time and reassurance, she'll blossom.

Carina has been returned through no fault of her own, nor the families.
We want to make sure anyone interested knows that she is NOT a typical pooch. She came from a commercial Breeding facility.
She has lived ALL her life in a wire cage with a male dog for breeding purposes. Her life was producing puppies for profit and that is all she was there.
She WILL be fearful and hide if allowed to. She may bond with the female in the home and not the male. It could take years for her to become a typical dog, we have had a puppy mill dog in our home for 10 years and she just started coming to us last year.
Much like our dog Carina LOVES the company of other dogs and must go home with at least one other dog. This is also how you get her to do things because she will follow the lead of the other dog.

The family who adopted her did a DNA on her and it came 100% Poodle. She is smart and submissive, never shows her teeth no matter what you do.
If you have a dog who needs a friend, you cant get a better friend than Carina for your dog. BUT you must understand she may not walk in or up to you and be a lap dog ever. Now we know some people have a way with dogs and she could change but we want to give you the worst scenario to keep your expectations in line with who she is at this time.

IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN ADOPTING, PLEASE FILL OUT AN APPLICATION FROM OUR WEBSITE: www.hoperescues.org. Our adoption fee is $275.00 for all our dogs.
This fee includes: Spay/Neuter, microchip, all current vaccinations, and flea/tick treatment. Our dogs are also given monthly heart worm medication in our care.
Disclaimer: Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most of our dogs, we are only guessing at breed mix. We do our best to describe our dogs based on personality, not breed label.
