Carat's Story
Carat (as in a five-carat diamond ) was originally found as a stray in a Paradise Valley apartment complex. By sheer luck, a very kind woman noticed little, timid Carat as she was bringing groceries in from her car. Realizing that such a vulnerable, scared, tiny dog could just as easily become a meal for a coyote as she could end up hit by a car, the lady generously took the time to lure Carat to safety and held on to her until a rescue could assist… that’s where we came in! Although this pocket full of sweetness and sunshine has been thriving in foster care through our organization, she still remains slow to warm up to new people. That being said, Carat requires a patient family who will help her come out of her shell, preferably one with another dog or two! To help build her trust in the world, she has to be surrounded by humans (and other animals) who radiate confidence, not individuals who intend on coddling or nurturing her fear. She is compatible with dogs of all sizes, however, she specifically needs a furry companion with no socialization issues.
