Caramel Belgian Shepherd / Malinois Mix New Orleans, LA

Caramel came from a backyard breeder, who is still breeding, with one of her ears bitten completely off. She is a beautiful Belgian Malonois and is ready for her forever home. After everything she has endured, she deserves her happily ever after.

Caramel is a Belgian malinois, around one year old and 40 pounds. She is heartworm negative and a TOTAL sweetheart. She is so affectionate, happy, and up for adventures. She uses her paws a lot to get your attention so she can give you kisses. She is never going back to the horror she endured and the owner IS being investigated by the shelter.

Before rescue, Caramel lived her entire life in a backyard, neglected and running loose when she would like. Some of the other dogs were chained up and a puppy was even living in a kennel with a bowl of bananas. Despite it all her temperment is sweet and she is dog and cat friendly. She is very people friendly and loves any attention she can get. She walks AMAZING on a leash, right by your side, and is the perfect companion for outings and meeting others. She can be shy in public sometimes, but is working on gaining her confidence. She is high energy and LOVES her daily walks and needs lots of mental stimulation.

We are requiring Caramel’s forever home have a fenced in backyard due to her energy level. Breed experience is a big plus!

Other info would be discussed in detail with the foster during the application review process. Due to the number of introductions/questions received (hundreds daily) we ask you submit an application on our website (that application can be used for any dog with Take Paws Rescue).

The adoption fee for adult dogs covers age appropriate vaccinations, microchip, spay/neuter if not yet performed, heartworm test & appropriate heartworm treatment by the rescue's vet. All dogs in our care are also kept up-to-date on HW/Flea Prevention. Please see our website for more information.

2022 Adoption Fee Scale for non-benefactor animals:
Puppies under 12 months - $350
Dogs over 12 months - $250


*Take Paws Rescue saves dogs from high-kill shelters in Southeast Louisiana, owner surrenders, and discarded dogs with uncertain futures. All of our animals live in foster homes where they are socialized, and well cared for. An application will be required to make sure it’s the perfect match!
