Caprese's Story

Meet Caprese aka The Italian Tiger
Caprese is an approximately 4-year-old brindle boy with the stripes of a tiny tiger and the soul of a very snuggly puppy. He looks like he should be roaming the Serengeti, but he'd actually prefer your couch. He's handsome, goofy, and very excited to show you all the tricks he already knows. Caprese hasn't been in our care for long, but what we do know about him, we love. And we have a feeling you will too.

COMMANDS: This guy came with a resume! Caprese knows sit, down, stay, and come, and he's picking up new commands quickly.

LEASH MANNERS: Caprese is a strong boy and can get pretty excited when he spots another dog, which means he may pull on walks. We're working on his “here” command to help him refocus on his person.

DOGS & KIDS: We're still learning about Caprese's feelings on roommates of the human and canine variety. For now, he seems happiest as the only pup in an adult home where he can soak up all the attention.

LOVE LANGUAGE: Physical touch and receiving gifts (he contains multitudes). Caprese LOVES a good snuggle, but his toys are a close second. He believes every new toy is a thoughtful gift and every lap is a potential bed.

CRATE TRAINED: Caprese is crate trained and happy to have his own little bedroom!

WORKING ON: Loose-leash walking! We're working on redirection and positive reinforcement with high value treats, and he's already making progress.

POTTY: Fully house trained! Since coming into foster, Caprese has done all his business outside like the gentleman he is.

His story
Caprese was found on the streets of Manhattan in July and brought to the ACC shelter, where he spent a few months in a stressful environment. It's easy to understand why he became anxious and restless there. But since coming into foster, we've seen a totally different side of him. He settled in quickly and has been showing us what a sweet, gentle, goofy guy he really is.

He's also receiving ongoing care for some neglected paw issues, but he's expected to make a full recovery. They don't slow him down from enjoying his days. Or collecting as many toys as possible.

Now all Caprese needs is someone who will give him a soft place to land, a toy collection that gets increasingly difficult to justify, and plenty of opportunities to hear what a good boy he is. Somewhere out there is a person who is going to wonder how they ever lived without this ridiculously sweet guy.
