CAPPY's Story

Cappy is currently in foster, here's what they say about him: Cappy is proof that not all seniors read the script. At 8, he is energetic, playful and engaged in life. He is ready for a home that is truly his. He loves his enrichment toys (lick pads, squeaky balls, anything that makes noise), he will bring you a stuffy to play with, and handles stairs up and down without a second thought. Sunbathing is a core personality trait. So are long, luxurious naps after a good outing. He is the dog that makes you feel like you've earned your couch time too. Cappy is fully house-trained and will let you know when it's time to go out — no guessing, no accidents. He is also working on his leash manners and making good progress. The right home for Cappy is one with no small animals and someone who sees a dog that still has a lot of life in him — and wants to share it. He will reward that person with loyalty, silliness, and a permanent warm spot on the couch. He's a good boy!

Friends of the Alameda Animal Shelter's Adoption Policy
We ask that everyone in the household meet the potential new furry family member. Come look through the profiles of our residents available at our front counter, and walk a dog or play with a cat. We are always happy to answer questions about a pet and help you decide whether he will be a good fit. If you rent, you will need to supply a copy of your lease stating you are allowed to have pets. If you own, you will need to supply proof of home ownership.   Each animal leaves with its first set of shots, dewormer and flea treatment. All animals are spayed or neutered and microchipped prior to going home. All dog adopters receive a $200 credit toward canine training. You will also receive a health exam certificate that entitles you to a free "healthy pet" checkup at a local veterinarian clinic.  FAAS located at the North end of Grand St at 1590 Fortmann Way. Adoption hours are noon-4PM Tuesday through Sunday. (We are closed Mondays.)
