Capone's Story

FAST FACTS:
* 3 years old & 51lbs
* Dog-friendly, with slow introductions
* No cats - high prey drive
* Working on potty training
* Crate-trained
* Older kids only (10+)
* Certified velcro dog

Meet Capone, a 3-year-old, 51-pound pit mix with a personality that's larger than life and a heart that's even bigger. Originally surrendered in Texas, Capone is now looking for a home where he can finally settle in and be someone's loyal right-hand man.

If you love a dog who believes personal space is overrated, Capone is your guy. He is absolutely obsessed with people, happiest when he's cuddled up close, in your lap, or directly in your face, asking for attention. He loves walks, toys, splashing around in kiddie pools, and will never turn down quality cuddle time.

Capone can be a lot in a shelter setting; the chaos and noise bring out his reactive side, but once he's outside of that environment, he's a completely different dog. In a home, he has great manners, is house-trained with no indoor accidents (though he may occasionally excited-piddle when he's extra happy to be let out of his crate), and is very receptive to guidance and boundaries. He already understands things like staying off counters and enjoys learning from his people.

He's playful and enjoys roughhousing with other dogs, but underneath all that enthusiasm is a very submissive boy who takes corrections well from canine friends. Because he can be leash reactive and gets overstimulated during introductions, slow, calm meet-and-greets work best ideally off-leash in a neutral environment.

Capone will need an active, dog-savvy family willing to work through some of his quirks. He's strong on leash, athletic enough to clear impressive heights, and would do best with a confident handler and a secure fence (6 feet preferred). Due to his prey drive, he's looking for a cat-free home and would likely do best without small animals. Older kids are recommended because he can be jumpy and mouthy when excited all in fun, never aggression.

He does well in a crate, though fair warning: you'll need to move quickly, closing the door because Capone would much rather stay with his people than miss out on the action. He'd also do best in a home without shared walls, as he can be vocal.

Capone may share a name with one of history's most famous mob bosses, but the only thing criminal about him is how quickly he'll steal your couch space and your heart. With patience, structure, and plenty of love, this goofy, water-loving cuddle bug is ready to become someone's loyal partner in crime.

If interested in adopting me, please fill out an application on our website at www.fetchingtailsfoundation.org; please make sure you fill in every required field/question, or your submission will not go through. Please note that we take time to learn as much as we can about each dog in our care, and our bios are our current observations; we are unable to make any guarantees on the future health or temperament of your adopted dog. Most dogs in our care come with unknown pre-rescue history, and as such, breed and age estimates are an educated guess.

ADOPTION REQUIREMENTS, NO EXCEPTIONS:

*ADOPTION FEE: $375

*Be at least 21 years of age

*Have the knowledge and agreement of all adults living in the household

*Have approval from owner of residence (written in lease)

*Have a valid ID with current address (please provide proof of address if ID address is not up-to-date)

*Be approved as a suitable adoptive home by Fetching Tails Foundation

*Be prepared to make a lifetime commitment

*QUESTIONS ABOUT OUR POLICIES? Fetching Tails Foundation's Adoption Policy
1). All dogs listed on the website are currently available for adoption. We are volunteer-run and will do our very best to respond to your interest in one of our dogs within 24-48 hours. If you have not received a response by the 48-hour mark, please check your spam. 2). The decision to place one of our rescue dogs into either a foster home or adoptive home is not one that we take lightly. We reserve the right to deny any application and may not disclose the reason for denial. This decision is not made on a first-come, first-served basis, it is determined by who would be the best fit for our dog based on their personality in a foster home. 3). At times we have multiple applications on the same adoptable dog - and we reserve the right to stop accepting applications at any point when there is an overwhelming number of applicants for the same dog. This may be the reason you do not see the particular dog on our website or any partner websites, even after submitting an application. If an application is submitted, you should expect a response from us. Process Application – As a potential adopter, you will fill out and submit an adoption application. Your application will be reviewed by an FTF Volunteer, who will contact you within 24-48 hours of submission. Again, please check your spam if you do not hear from someone by the 48-hour mark. Meet If the application is deemed a good fit, the foster/volunteer will schedule a meet with the applicant and everyone in the household. All members of the application household, including dogs, will meet at a secured location decided by the foster and applicants. If a person or dog is over often, they are able to attend as well. Home Checks: After the application has been approved and the meet and greet has been done we will move forward with a home check. ** Please note, if you are in a rented home, we will be contacting your landlord for their approval prior to adoption. If the approval is not written in your lease, we will need written approval from your landlord. Contract If you are approved for adoption, you will be notified and adoption will be scheduled at one of two locations. You will fill out our adoption contract, which details our policies and procedures regarding the responsibility and care of the Fetching Tails dog. At this time you will receive proof of all vaccinations, the microchip number, test results, a rabies certificate, and any additional medical records, if necessary. Adoption Donation When you adopt a dog, you're not buying a pet. Your donation isn't a fee for your adoptee - it's a gift that helps us pursue our mission, save lives, and ensure we can provide care to all the dogs in our program. Senior dog. 8 years and up / $125 Adult or Young Dog. 6 months to 7 years / $375 Puppies. Under 6 months / $450 (Cash or check accepted only on adoption day) Care Provided At minimum, all Fetching Tails dogs receive the following: Fecal tests (and treatment, if needed) Age-appropriate Vaccinations Microchip, which will be transferred to you at the time the adoption is processed with our 24PetWatch chip Heartworm Test (and treatment, if positive) Spay/Neuter Surgery Flea & Tick Preventative (during the proper season) Heartworm Preventative (during the proper season) **Please note the following: 1). We are unable to make any guarantees of the future health, age, temperament, size, or breed of your adopted dog. 2). In the event that the adopter is no longer able or willing to care for the adopted dog, or the dog is no longer a “fit” in the home, the adopter understands that the dog MUST be returned to Fetching Tails Foundation. If the adopted dog is not returned to Fetching Tails, the Foundation has the right to subject a fine and if necessary, will take legal action. 3). Please read over your adoption contract carefully.
