🐾 Behind the Bark: Capone<br/><br/>Some dogs grow into their names.<br/><br/>Capone seems to have been waiting for his.<br/><br/>At around 100 pounds, with a big blocky head and a permanent half-squint in one eye, Capone has a certain presence about him. Not because he demands attention or tries to boss anyone around. Quite the opposite. Most of the time, Capone seems perfectly content to sit back, take in what's happening around him, and decide whether any of it is worth getting involved in.<br/><br/>Usually, it isn't.<br/><br/>Then somebody picks up a ball.<br/><br/>For a dog who can be remarkably stoic about the world around him, Capone takes his toys seriously. Throw a ball across the yard and he's immediately after it, ready to bring it back and do it again. Two balls are even better. He'll happily forget about the one he has when another appears, although given the opportunity, he'll also try fitting both in his mouth at once.<br/><br/>Capone knows "sit" and occasionally "lay down," although the latter seems to be a command he prefers to consider more of a suggestion.<br/><br/>For a dog pushing triple digits, he's also surprisingly cooperative on a leash. You may notice a pull from time to time, but normally a reminder is enough to slow him down, if he doesn't correct himself first.<br/><br/>He's comfortable with people and has done well with visiting children, although his size alone may make him better suited to a home without very young kids. He thinks he's a lap dog, loves car rides, and rarely comes back inside without stopping to grab a toy along the way.<br/><br/>Capone came to the rescue after his previous owner was moving somewhere he couldn't take him.<br/><br/>When it comes to other dogs, Capone's history requires some serious consideration. He's had incidents with other dogs, particularly larger ones, and needs to be the only dog in his home. Interestingly, smaller dogs and cats often seem to barely register on his radar.
